  6. Spider Wood

Driftwood is without a doubt, one of the most popular decorative items found in home aquariums. Not only will driftwood give your tank a more natural look, but it'll also serve as a resting and breeding spot for a large number of fish and invertebrate species. Wood also contains acidifying properties which helps in maintaining a lower water pH. The lower pH is of great benefit to native South American species of fish, such as tetras, corydoras catfish and new world cichlids. Some woods will produce a rather unnatractive, white slime coat during the first few weeks after being introduced into the aquarium. The slime is completely harmless to fish and other tank inhabitants. The slime coat can easily be removed with an aquarium siphon and will NOT come back to haunt you a second time afterwards. As far as tannins go, keep in mind that they are also completely harmless. In fact, tannins are greatly appreciated by a variety of fish, most notably, those from the tanned waters of the Rio Negro in South America. The best way to ensure that your aquarium water remains crystal clear after introducing new driftwood, is to boil the wood for a good half hour
  7. Zebra rock

Unique rocks to offer an original touch to your aquarium

At aquarius, we offer our customers a wide selection of driftwoods, naturals rocks, ornaments and artificial plants.

The way you set up your tank will have a large impact on the way your fish behave. Offer your fish a number of hiding places, create interesting reliefs and shady places and choose a tank decor that'll help accentuate the beauty and behaviour of your fish.

For example, schooling fish like Tetras and Rasboras do well in heavily planted tanks but need open swimming areas in order to school properly. If you're in need of ideas or inspiration for your next tank setup, feel free to consult one of our in-store specialists. Our experts will be more than happy to offer suggestions and give you a tour of our show tanks. We're even equipped with a large platform where our costumers can practice creating their own setups.
