Lighting is a necessity in the home aquarium and for many reasons.

First of all, the lighting period allows the hobbyist to closely observe and appreciate his or her fish and make sure they're all healthy and parasite-free.

Secondly, lighting is essential to for all type of growing plants. During the day, when sufficient light reaches into the water, plants absorbe CO2 and produce oxygen instead, much like our trees and other terrestrial plants.

To help keep green algae under control, we normally suggest lighting your aquarium for a period of 8 to 10 hours a day.

Whether it's for your large, 90 gallon fish tank or your small betta aquarium, we'll be happy to share our thoughts with you and give you advice about the different lighting options that fit your needs.
