Quick Overview
A respiratory organ allows it to live in waters poor in oxygen. Does not tolerate males of its species. Ideal fish for tanks of 2 gallons or more.
Difficult to integrate into a community bin.
Tolerates cool water (22-23C) but lives much better in warm water (26-30C).
Best kept in a heated 5-gallon container, densely planted with little or no water circulation and a few peaceful companions.
Generally coexists well with corydoras, tanichthys, almond tetras, copper shrimps and/or amano (adults) as well as dwarf African frogs.
