Quick Overview
Discus are calm, peaceful fish, that only do well in groups. This species is more difficult to maintain than the Angelfish, and is not recommended for beginners.
This fish requires excellent tank maintenance, adapted feeding practices and constant supervision. Farmed strains, however, are more resistant than wild strains, and can easily withstand tap water if they have been accustomed to it from birth.
Discus are particularly sensitive to stress, disturbances and lack of attention. Like all Cichlids, it is gregarious, territorial and hierarchical: it needs a large aquarium.
We hold several varieties of discus in inventory, as well as specimens ranging from 2 "to 5" in body length.
